Singing at Emmanuel Chapel
God’s people are called to be a singing people. In the scriptures, we learn that Israel responded to God’s great works with song (see Ex. 15:1-21, 2 Samuel 22:1-51, Psalm 18). In the Book of Psalms, God has provided his people with an entire book of songs through which we offer praise, celebrate his deeds, and bring our prayers before Him. Singing is a fundamental part of Christian worship, and one of our great delights and privileges as the Lord’s people.
Emmanuel Chapel is seeking to grow as a singing people. We have much to learn, but we are committed to learning and singing the Psalms, as well as biblically faithful Hymns. It is our goal that singing Psalms and Hymns will not just be something we do once a week in church, but that singing will be prominent in family and devotional life throughout the week. To this end, we seek to ensure that a copy of the Cantus Christi hymnal is accessible to all in our congregation.
Psalm Sings
Throughout the year, we hold Psalm Sings in the homes of one of our families. These provide a wonderful opportunity to sing praises to God together, improve our singing, and enjoy fellowship with one another.
